On the way home 5

Last weekend, I went back to Tay Ninh- a province in the Southeast part of Vietnam. I and my beloved had a wonderful “journey” by motorcycle from Ho Chi Minh city to my second lovely hometown. To get to Tay Ninh, you can ride motor or catch a bus. Usually, it takes from 2-3 hours to go by motor and more than 3 hours to go by bus. We usually get to Tay Ninh by motorbike and it wasn’t an exception last week.
Before getting to Tay Ninh province we have to pass Cu Chi district- a suburban district of Ho Chi Minh city. In contrast to a noisy and bustle Ho Chi Minh, Cu Chi district is more peaceful with a lot of immense rice fields.

It is not far from Cu Chi district to Tay Ninh province zone and when getting to Tay Ninh Zone it doesn’t mean that you can get to the center of Tay Ninh province because you have to pass a lot of rice fields:

The soil in Tay Ninh is very fertile so besides rice, you can see many kinds of plants.

Some kinds of vegetables such as cucumber, bitter melon are planted with a large number because of the profit they bring. Here is a new-planted vegetables garden:

Besides vegetables, the soil in Tay Ninh is also suitable for planting rubber trees, custard apple trees and cassava trees. That is the reason why you can find many fields of these trees on the ways to Tay Ninh. Rubber tree is considered “white gold” of this land.

Cassava  trees also bring a lot of money to people here.

When talking about the speciality of Tay Ninh, people can easily point out two famous things: Banh Trang(pancake) and shrimp or chilly Salt. We decided to drop by a store in Go Dau district to enjoy Banh Trang and shrimp salt. There are many kinds of Banh Trang. Each kind has its own feature but there is a similar point that is the blend of rice flour and chilly or shrimp which make an unforgettable flavor of Banh Trang.

Although there is no beach in Tay Ninh but they still make a kind of salt which becomes their pride and becomes an indispensable ingredient when you eat fruit.

After saying goodbye to the owner of the store, we continued our journey to the center of Tay Ninh province- Tay Ninh town. However, we stopped at a small kiosk to buy snail for my father because he likes it very much. We intended to make boiled- snail disk which was severed with a mixture of fish sauce, chilly and ginger. This is a wonderful dish.

It cost 50.000 VND to buy 2 kilos of snails. It was not so expensive and we had a delicious dish that evening.

We continued to get to Tay Ninh town. You can not find rice fields or rubber trees in this town but it is sure that you still feel comfortable thanks to long line of big trees.

One special thing that you can see is the temple of Cao Dai religion- the main religion of people in Tay Ninh. Next time I will take you to visit these temples and find interesting thing about this religion.

We passed Tay Ninh Town quite fast because we did not have much time. Although my parents called us and asked us to get home early but we still wanted to wander for few minutes to view the beauty of Ba Den mountain- one of the most famous tourist destination in the South of Vietnam- at noon.

The road to Ba Den mountain appeared and Ba Den mountain looked like a mother who was stretching her arms and cradling her children- towns and houses in Tay Ninh province.
